Triad Sentry

Wiki › Classes › Tier 3

Three turrets on the rim of your tank that pick their own targets and never stop firing. You drive, they shoot. It's the easiest class to get value out of, and it has a few quirks worth knowing.

How it plays

You don't aim Triad Sentry. The three turrets fire whether you hold the trigger or not. Each turret looks for the nearest target inside its own 120° cone, swings towards it at 360° a second, and fires. Between them the three cones cover all the way round you. When a turret has nothing to shoot it rests at its mount.

The cones are fixed to your tank, and your tank turns to face your cursor. So your aim still matters: it decides which turret covers which direction. Pointing your cursor at the biggest threat puts the front turret's cone centred on it.

Holding fire changes the behaviour. Now every turret aims at your cursor, but each one can only swing 60° from its mount. The front turret lines up with your cursor exactly. The two back turrets swing as far towards it as they can and fire from 60° off it. So holding fire gets you one aimed turret, not three. For most fights, letting the turrets pick their own targets is better.

The targeting has a priority order. An enemy tank inside your turrets' reach comes first. When there's none, they go for enemy drones, and after that shapes. The turrets only look as far as their bullets can actually fly, so a player hovering at the edge of your screen doesn't pull them off the shapes next to you. The flip side is that anything beyond 331 px, at 0 Bullet Speed points, doesn't exist to them at all. Passive mode (V by default) switches the turrets off completely.

When no enemy is around, Triad Sentry farms by itself. Drive through a shape field and the turrets clear it while you steer. Nothing else at tier 3 needs less input to farm.

What it beats and what beats it

Triad Sentry beats fast, erratic classes that are hard to aim at: Vector and Bastion have to get close, and once they are inside your reach the turrets track them perfectly. It covers all sides at once, so a flanking rammer doesn't catch it facing the wrong way. It's also a strong pick on a touch screen, where aiming is the hard part.

It loses to anything that out-ranges 331 px: a Nightfall or Sighthound at 600 px is simply out of your turrets' reach, and they won't even turn towards it. Against a single target in front of you, usually only one turret can reach, which makes your focused damage about 12 a second at 0 points. A Duet-line class facing you down will win that trade.

Building your stats

If you might take Aegis at level 45, put a few points into Body Damage too. Aegis is a smasher body with a turret on top.

Where it leads

Triad Sentry has five level-45 options, and they're very different from each other.
