A hexagon with no gun. Bastion kills by running into things, with the hardest-hitting body at tier 3 and the fastest one. You can only get it by staying a Recruit until level 30.
At 0 stat points. Bastion uses its own stat rules, listed below.
| Tier | 3 |
| Unlock level | 30 (12,205 score) |
| Upgrades from | Recruit only. You have to skip tier 2 entirely |
| Upgrades into | Level 45: Caltrop, Ambush, Aegis |
| Barrels | None. Bastion can't fire |
| Usable stats | Only Health Regen, Max Health, Body Damage and Movement Speed, each up to 10 points (other classes: 8 stats, up to 7) |
| Body damage | 50 (+22.5 per Body Damage point, 275 at 10 points) |
| Max health | 123 at level 30 (+31.2 per Max Health point) |
| Top speed | 235 px/s at level 30 (a normal tier-3 body: 168), +15 px/s per Movement Speed point at that level |
| Ram | Touching an enemy player deals your full body damage, at most once every 0.5 s |
| Drones / traps / turrets | None |
| Body | Hexagon. Body damage ×2.5, movement ×1.4, max HP ×1.3 |
Bastion has no gun, so everything is about contact. When your body touches an enemy player, the ram hits them for your full body damage, 50 at 0 points, and then has to wait half a second before it can hit again. On top of that you trade ordinary contact damage every moment you're touching, just like any two tanks do. The difference is that yours is multiplied by 2.5.
The ram only works on players. Against bots and bosses you get the ordinary contact damage and nothing more, so Bastion is a player hunter, not a boss killer.
Bastion is the fastest tank at tier 3. The 1.4× body gives you 235 px/s at level 30, faster even than a Vector. You catch almost anything, and you choose when contact happens.
The stat rules are different. You can only put points into four stats, but each one goes to 10 instead of 7, and the damage and health points are worth far more than on a gun tank: +22.5 body damage and +31.2 max health per point, against +4 and +20. You'll have 28 points at level 30 and 33 at the most, and the four stats together take 40, so you can't max everything. Decide what matters.
Shapes break quickly against you, because your body damage applies to them too. Farming as a Bastion means driving through shape fields rather than shooting them.
Bastion beats snipers that let it close: Nightfall, Sighthound and Vantage can't hold a distance against something faster than them. It's strong against drone classes. A drone that hits a tank loses penetration equal to that tank's body damage divided by 12, so your 50 body damage burns about 4 penetration per hit, and a Shepherd's drones die on contact with you unless it has stacked Drone Penetration.
It loses to anything that punishes contact or stops it happening. Snare's traps hurt to cross and you can't shoot them. A Sledge shell does 28 damage and shoves you back. A Volley does 67 damage a second to you as you come in. And Triad Sentry's turrets track you perfectly no matter how you approach.
Points you put into gun stats as a Recruit aren't lost. Bastion locks Bullet Speed, Bullet Penetration, Bullet Damage and Reload, and when you upgrade, every point in them comes back as an unspent point for the four stats below. So as a Recruit, spend for the gun you're actually using: Reload and Bullet Damage get you to level 30 faster, and it all comes back. Points in Max Health, Health Regen, Body Damage and Movement Speed carry straight over.
One sensible split at 33 points is 10 Body Damage, 10 Movement Speed, 10 Max Health and 3 Health Regen. If you keep dying on the approach, move points from Body Damage into Max Health.
