Aegis is a smasher body with an auto turret on top. Unlike the other smashers it keeps all eight stats, so it can build its gun as well as its body.
| Tier | 4 |

| Upgrades from | Triad Sentry or Bastion |
| Guns | no barrels; 1 top turret |
| Turret control | aims at your cursor while you hold fire, otherwise picks its own target |
| Turret reload (0 points) | 0.6 s per shot (1.67 shots/s) |

| Bullet damage | 8 per bullet, penetration 2 |
| Body damage | 50 (×2.5) |
| Ram | against players, a full body-damage hit every 0.5 s of contact |
| Stats | all eight, capped at 7 (not the smasher rules) |
| Health / movement | ×1.196 / ×1.3 |
Every number here is at 0 stat points, before the per-level health bonus and the per-level speed penalty that every tank gets. The automatic balancer can nudge a class's damage and health over time, so treat these as the roster's base values.
Aegis is built to touch things. Body contact deals damage to both of you every server tick you overlap, scaled down, and on top of that a smasher lands a full-strength ram on another player, your whole body damage at once, every half second you're in contact. At 0 points your body damage is 50. The turret on top is a support gun: 8 damage every 0.6 seconds, about 13 damage per second.
The turret has two modes. Hold fire and it aims at your cursor and shoots. Let go and it picks the nearest enemy tank or bot within its bullets' reach, then enemy drones, then shapes. Most of the time you let it choose, because your hands are busy steering into people. V (passive mode) stops it.
The unusual thing about Aegis is its stat panel. The other smashers can only buy four stats (health regen, health, body damage and movement) with a cap of 10. Aegis keeps all eight stats with the normal cap of 7, and uses the normal per-point values. That means you can invest in the turret, but your body stats grow more slowly than a true smasher's.
Aegis beats drone classes well. A drone that hits you loses penetration equal to your body damage divided by 12, over 4 per hit at 0 points, so standard drones die on contact, and the turret shoots down what's left. It's good against short-range guns that can't kite you, and against bots.
It loses to kiting. Snipers and missile classes keep their distance, and your turret's 331 px reach doesn't bother them. Trap fields are solid and stop you cold. Against the dedicated rammers, Caltrop and Ambush, you lose the body-damage race, since their body stats scale much harder than yours.
A 33-point build: Body Damage 7, Max Health 7, Movement Speed 6, Health Regen 5, Bullet Damage 4, Reload 4.
From Bastion, the other endings are Caltrop and Ambush. Both are pure rammers with the smasher stat rules: four stats capped at 10, and much bigger per-point body damage. A maxed Caltrop hits several times harder than a maxed Aegis. Aegis gives that up for a turret and a flexible build. Take Aegis if you want a rammer that can still do something at range; take Caltrop or Ambush if ramming is the whole plan.
From Triad Sentry, Aegis is the only rammer. Sentry, Penta Sentry, Autovolley and Autosnare are all gun or trap classes. Take Aegis if you want to get into people's faces with a turret covering you.
