Quadrant fires four bullets every 0.75 seconds, one in each direction. That's 5.34 bullets a second in total, but only one barrel ever points at what you're aiming at. Against a single target you're doing about 10.7 damage a second at 0 points. That's less than a Recruit, and about a third of what a Duet or Crossfire puts forward.
This is the part people don't expect. Four barrels sounds strong. Against one target, it's the weakest tier-3 gun class at 0 points. What you get instead is coverage: every direction has a bullet going through it every 0.75 seconds, and you don't have to turn to use any of them.
So Quadrant is a class for crowds and for farming. Parked in a shape field, all four barrels break shapes at once. You can spin to sweep them around (auto-spin is C by default), which turns your four lines into a rotating sweep that hits everything within 331 px eventually. That's lazy, and it works.
Because the barrels are opposite each other, recoil cancels out completely. Firing never moves you. That makes Quadrant easy to position: you drive where you want to be and the shooting doesn't interfere.
Quadrant beats things that come from several directions at once. Drone swarms, a group of bots, or several players in a team-mode brawl all get something shot at them without you choosing. Rammers circling you for an opening find a barrel on every side.
It loses any one-on-one against a class that points its damage forward. A Duet does nearly three times your forward damage, a Volley far more. And like the rest of this family it has no answer to range: a Nightfall at 700 px is out of reach of all four of your barrels. If you're losing a duel, don't try to out-trade it. Move so the fight happens in a crowd, where your extra barrels finally matter.
If you're heading for Octant, Reload is worth even more: Octant counts each Reload point four times over, and each Bullet Speed point only half.
Penta Sentry can also be reached from Triad Sentry, so if the turret idea appeals to you, compare the two routes before level 30.
